In a unexpected crossover event that challenges traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Uncovered

According to the authorized release, "An unusual confrontation leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where rumors of banned practices and terrifying changes reverberate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her friend from a hidden group.

The mission concentrates on "bizarre trials and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Metamorphoses

The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a powerful sequence showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Rewards and Additional Content

Players who finish the quest will receive an unique katana alongside multiple artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Exclusive implements
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Addition

This release also brings the game's latest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally included a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
