It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are the only things left for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy getting a chance to create her newest gem.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a frustrating experience because I feel like I lacked timing whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit activate and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the assurance to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament need to hear.

In recent days a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
