From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
