Senate Greenlights Bill to Release Jeffrey Epstein Documents

The Senate on Tuesday passed without delay to a bill that will force the release of official records related to the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, following a overwhelming vote in the US House of Representatives and a reversal by the president and his GOP allies. The White House gave in after an extended period of trying to delay the bipartisan effort involving a scandal that has plagued the president since his return to the White House.

Unanimous Passage in Both Chambers

Senators proceeded by consensus, which needs acceptance from each senator but avoids a recorded vote, accelerating the process. Earlier that day, the House passed by a huge margin the bill on a massive majority.

“The American people have been patient long enough. The survivors have suffered long enough,” Chuck Schumer declared in a Senate remarks on Tuesday, before asking the chamber to adopt it by consent. “Uncover the facts. Ensure full disclosure.”

Presidential Signature

This legislation next will be sent to Donald Trump for his signature. The president stated on Monday that he would approve the bill.

Even though the president has for months rejected the controversy over the official management of the scandal as a “political stunt”, he voiced approval for the House bill over the weekend, and stated he would approve it if it comes to him.

Reaction

Opposition lawmakers, along with those affected and their representatives who were watching from a public section, broke into applause after the bill was passed. The only opposition came from a GOP representative, who stated he worried the measure would disclose specific data of witnesses, those under scrutiny and others involved in the investigation.
